I’m not really sure how to rate this story—I like the story of how Elizabeth finds Georgiana, the rocky start E&D get off to and how they slowly (and with litte angst) get to know and love each other. I also like the resolutions for Lydia and Anne—however, since they were not at all connected to the first part of the story, they have a slightly tacked on feel, as if the author just wanted to make sure there was a happy ending for everyone. Having said that, I did appreciate those storylines, even getting a little emotional reading Anne’s story (interesting interpretation of Lady Catherine as suffering something like munchausen by proxy).The writing is a bit stiff, and a little heavy on exposition and saying more than needs to be said. Yet it was an enjoyable story.
I would recommend skimming rather than reading after Jane's wedding. The loose ends could have been tied up much more quickly. I also found the story lacking in romance between Elizabeth and Darcy, particularly after (spoiler) she accepts him. You don't need smut to be romantic, but a few lingering glances, surreptitious touches, stolen kisses, or even some well written flirtatious dialogue doesn't hurt.
Lizzy goes to Derbyshire early so not much of the story is canon. The new story is a fun read and the characters are much the same.This is a new author to me. The writing reflects the newness but the story is engaging.I recommend this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were true the story was different enough to be enjoyed. Even Collins was an amazing character. I especially enjoyed how Wickham was treated. It made it easy to accomplish Lydia marriage.
I love it when an author goes a different route with the characters. It was a little difficult to see Mr. Bennet in this light. He is always one of my favorites. I have never seen Mr. Collins in such an agreeable way but I did like how his situation ended up. I also liked seeing Kitty as more of a prominent character. She is always forgotten in the other Variations. A very enjoyable book.
This unusual approach to the P and P story has Darcy's improvement occur much early (as well as his marriage to Elizabeth). The sisters receive much more attention. A few new characters add to the story. A charming alternative.
. . . happily ever after. This a good story, fairly well told, although it did seem to lose its flow and drag in a few places. I would certainly peruse any works by this author. Read via KU
This was the most enjoyable read. A have the characters of Pride and Prejudice but with a much different story. I have to say that was very refreshing to have Elizabeth and Darcy still have their clash of character and yet be able to reconcile that to each other much more quickly
