The book started off fine. But the more the read, the more i had to force myself to finish it. I was counting down the pages until it was over. The book just aggitated me because it was superficial, way too cliche and over done, and Tiny drove me crazy with her brattiness. Tyson drove me crazy with his off and on "I want you. Wait no, i can't." The dad's over-protective tendencies was also very annoying to me.
The only thing that mars this book is the father daughter forgiveness should have been filled out more. They were to close for that to satisfy me. I cried because i did not want these couples to have to go through so much. There happily ever after was Disney perfect!
Romance, clean, Y/A; Series but stand alone readThis was a great Y/A read. Hurting characters, family drama, misunderstandings, and friendships, all while navigating school life with the ups and downs with education, choices, cliques, and teachers.Very well done. This author has been hit or miss for me as a reader, and she deserves my 4 star rating for this book. Lots of meat, weighty decisions, and of course, lovely attraction and friendship between the two MC. Definitely should be more widely read.
Could you imagine being in high school with your dad as the football coach? Oh heavens that would be interesting. This book had me thinking about my daughters because my hubby was an assistant principal at our local high school for several years and we'd talked about what it would be like for our daughters when they started going to school there and having dad be the assistant principal. We had lots of great scenarios thought up, especially when it came to boys. I have all daughters so definitely the thought of boys is pretty big in my household. And dating them, ugh, I don't even want to go there yet. Unfortunately my hubby has been moved to a position in our school district office and not at the high school anymore so our daughters don't get the privilege of attending school with dad always there to watch over them (and those boys). But the rest of the teachers and staff and students watch out for our girls because they all know who they are. Lol! No messing up or secrets for them. With that aspect of my life being similar to this storyline, I had a blast listening to this. My teenage daughters and younger daughters did as well. So much fun. Every chance they had, they asked if they could listen to it. We had many laughs and a couple frustration moments while listening. But it was definitely worth all the emotions. This would be a fun road trip book to listen to with the family (especially if they're all girls...just saying ;-) ).I'm looking forward to the next two books in this series, Rule #2 and Rule #3. Should be lots of fun! If you're not sure about YA, take a chance on this one. If you are a YA lover, this would definitely be right up your alley!Content: Clean. Some family issues are discussed throughout the book, such as divorce, a parent leaving, a parent dying, parents dating after divorce and a mother who is an alcoholic. With all of those different family issues throughout the book it might be off putting to some, but I felt that the author did a great job addressing those issues and showing how these teens and main characters were able to work through their emotions and struggles resulting from the family issues. Very well done!Happy Reading!!!
I loved all the main characters, especially Destiny, Tyson, and Ms. Swallow. Destiny has always complied with her dad’s rules, but considering how over-the-top unreasonable those rules are, it’s not too surprising that she eventually breaks them and then is dishonest in order to keep her dad from finding out. It begins innocently enough when the science teacher assigns her to be lab partners with her football player crush. This story was well written and was a fun romp, while several serious topics thread their way through the story without being too heavy-handed. The ending was good too!
Content: CleanEnding: Stand-alone HEAI love First person view point and a cute high school romance!I thought both characters grew and developed and had depth in their relationship. It was entertaining too!My only slight flaw was I felt like suddenly he liked her? I wished it would have fleshed out more why he was interested in her to begin with to be willing to go against coach for her to tutor him. I mean if he wasn't interested in her to begin with why risk it? But I wish it would have shown that interest more at the beginning.
If you enjoy sweet clean reads, then this is the perfect book for you. This book can be read by all ages. Destiny is the football coach’s daughter and his number 1 rule is no dating. Enter Tyson Blake, the quarterback. No spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens. I loved Cori, Tyson’s little sister.
This was a great book. I really enjoyed the characters and how the story progressed. The book in is first person, Destiny's character. She is a typical teenager trying to fit in high school. I liked how she was a real character and had some baggage that set her apart. Tyson, the man's man, handsome star quarterback isn't all smiles and goodness. He has some messiness in his life that makes him a different young man than he appears in school. The relationship that developed between Tyson and Destiny was filled with ruts in the road. I liked that it was not easy for them because it fine-tuned their characters. I would recommend to those that like sweet high school romance.
